Welkin Gunther
The protagonist.
He is the son of a great hero from EWI and was a university student, but after the invasion, Welkin was drafted and assigned to lead Squad 7. He is a tank commander, riding into battle with his father's former tank: the Edelweiss.
He enjoys studying plants and animals and collecting insects. At the university, he studied natural sciences, and he applies that unique knowledge to concoct daring and unpredicatable strategies in combat. He is easygoing and kind, and while he is enthusiastic about science, he can be quickly disinterested in most other topics.
